The University has negotiated new Facilities and Administrative rates, e.g. F & A (indirect or overhead), that will be effective July 1, 2008.

Consistent with past practice, these new rates will apply to new proposals and will not be applied retroactively to existing proposals or awards. The higher rates, as negotiated with the Department of Health and Human Services, are due to additional interest expenses and major infrastructure renovations that have occurred on large science buildings.

The new federally negotiated F&A (overhead/indirect) rates:

Research - increased from 51% to 52% effective July 1, 2008.

Other Sponsored Activities - (non-research or non-testing projects) increased from 40% to 41% effective July 1, 2008.

Off-Campus - remains the same at 26%.
